Job advertised 25 hours pw. Job Seekers plus travel expenses.

http://jobcentreplus.jobhits.co.uk/RETAIL-ASSISTANT-id-EAN-29944

This was a job advertised on the direct.gov site. Take a look.

WHAT A JOKE!!!
RETAIL ASSISTANT in FISHPONDS ROAD BS16 - Directgov jobs and skills search - Job details jobcentreplus.jobhits.co.ukThis is a Work Experience Opportunity for 18-24 year olds. Retail placement available with Superdrug on Fishponds Road. Duties as required by the Store Manager

Why would they take on anyone properly when they can do this??
There was another one similar advertised by Tesco recently. There are quite a few large companies signed up to these unpaid job scemes, and it is them, and them alone who benefit from this. However some companies  have pulled out as it becomes public knowledge, people are choosing not to shop there.
The people who work there and get paid are sometimes having their hours cut, as the work can be done for free.
After all why would a company pay someone when they do not have to?? and this is allowed and set up by our government.
The work is not a few hours. It is up to 30 a week for 8 week. And then you can be sent to another one.
There are thousands doing this. You do not even get the NMW.

THIS HAS TO STOP

  1. Yes, just saw one for superdrug, 25 hours a week jsut for jsa.

What the employees dont realise is that if you get a free worker, that means their hours will be reduced, no over time. There has been stories about these for profit industries just using them over xmas.

I think its because its for profit, rather than charitable companies.

  2. It is really a big opportunity for job seekers if there is always have a job offers and most of them don't miss that chance in order to get a job.

  3. Hi, thank you for your comment.
I would just like to clarify what you actually mean by opportunity for Job Seekers????

Working 25 hours per week, for no wage except JSA. Did you mean this???
As if so I disagree totally, as why should the Government pay JSA and a private company benefit from the work being done??? not paying the worker 1 penny?? This just prevents someone being paid to do the work.
The only one with the opportunity is the company who gets free labour.
